Spiritual Numbers and Their Practicality

What are spiritual numbers and how do they affect our life? First is the foundation created by God Almighty. The beginning of spiritual numbers is contained in the Zodiac. The Zodiac cannot, and does not predict anything in or about our life! The Zodiac was created by God to display God’s salvation plan to man.

Meaning of the Hebrew names of the 12 signs of the Zodiac.  God’s message to the world.

1. The Seed of the woman shall come. [Virgo]

2. There is a price paid by him for a purchased possession. [Libra]

3. The price shall be a conflict with the serpent-foe, and a wound in the conqueror’s heel. {Scorpius]

4. He shall be sent forth swiftly, surely, as an arrow from a bow. [Sagittarius]

5. He shall be slain as a sacrifice. [Capricorn]

6. He shall rise again and pour out blessings on his people. [Aquarius]

7. His people shall be multitudes, held in unison with each other and with himself. [Pisces]

8. He who was slain, whose heel was bruised, shall rule, and shall tread his enemy under foot. [Aries]

9. He shall come in power, triumphant, and have dominion. [Taurus]

10. He shall be the son of man and the son of God, victim & ruler. [Gemini]

11. He shall keep his purchased possession, & reward of his work. [Cancer]

12. He shall finally put all enemies underfoot, coming with ten thousands of his saints to execute judgment upon all, separating the good from the evil. [Leo]

These are not the interpretations you will learn from the Astrologer that reads your charts, are they? The enemy (Satan) has sought to corrupt God teaching and thus we have a deceiving Zodiac of today.  Those who do readings and interpretations of its symbols do so from demonic influences that distort or alter the original meanings which cause all to succumb and be deceived about the true meaning of life.  Modern Astrology seeks to predict the future based on the positions of the Zodiac which sublimely causes the inquiring mind to follow man’s teaching instead of God’s teaching to their peril.  

The Bible prohibits man from seeking information from fortune tellers, mediums, Astrologers, etc.  The penalty is death!  What then?  The answer:  If anyone has a question about his/her future, they need only prayer.  Let them ask God.  The Bible teaches, “You have not because you ask not.”  And, if not, they run the risk of not only being misled, but directed to the broad path and the way of destruction, and many are they that enter into it. Additionally, the proverb says, “There is a way that seems right to man, but its end leads to death.”  And, finally, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.  So, one would be wise to know the truth, and only in the Scriptures do we find truth.

Therefore, I would strongly advise not to seek or take into account, what someone says, or suggests that they learned from Astrology.  Indeed, if you do you run the risk of opening a doorway to the demonic. 

Bullinger’s research of Spiritual Numbers.

There have been a few men over the course of history who have made it their life’s work to understand numbers and their meaning in scripture.  One of those men is Ethelbert W. Bullinger.  Bullinger is recognized among most Bible scholars as the most credible source for numbers in scripture. Most of what you will read here comes from his painstaking work over his life for our benefit and to the Glory of God. 

Any student of Bible prophecy, or Bible apologetics, would do well to have his book in their library. Number in Scripture.  It’s Supernatural Design and Spiritual Significance.  

Bullinger writes: “No subject is in more hopeless confusion, made worse by those who desire the dates to fit in with their theories of numbers instead of with the facts of history.”

To quote: “The very first thing we must understand is that God’s dealings with His people have to do with actual duration of time, rather than specific dates!”

It is not my intent here to reinvestigate numbers in scripture and their significance, Bullinger has already done that, but to present a list of his findings along with tidbits of his relative commentary.

Numbers and their spiritual meaning

One. Unity

“There can be no doubt as to the significance of the primary number.  In all languages, it is the symbol of unity.  As a cardinal number, it denotes unity; as an ordinal it denotes primacy.  Unity being indivisible, and not made up of other numbers, is therefore independent of all others and is the source of all others.  “One” excludes all difference, for there is no second with which it can either harmonize or conflict.”

Two. Divide, and or difference

“It is the first number by which we can divide another, and therefore in all its uses we may trace this fundamental idea of division or difference.” “…where man is concerned, this number testifies of his fall, for it more often denotes that difference which implies opposition, enmity, and oppression.”

Three. Solid, real, substantial, complete, and entire.

“In this number, we have quite a new set of phenomena.  We come to the first geometrical figure.  Two straight lines cannot possibly enclose any space or form a plane figure; neither can two plane surfaces form a solid.  Three lines are necessary to form a plane figure; and three dimensions of length, breadth, and height, are necessary to form a solid.  Hence three is the symbol of the cube—the simplest form of a solid figure.  Three, therefore, stands for that which is solid, real, substantial, complete, and entire.” Three is the first of four perfect numbers; three denotes divine perfection.”  “Hence three is a number of Resurrection.”  Note:  The “Holy of Holies” is a cube.

Four. Material completeness

“Now the number four is made up of three and one and it denotes, therefore, and marks that which follows the revelation of God in the Trinity, namely, His creative works.  He is known by the things that are seen.  Hence the written revelation commences with the words, “in the-beginning God CREATED.”  Creation is, therefore, the next thing—the fourth thing, and the number four always has reference to all that is created.  It is emphatically the number of Creation (world).  It is the number of material completeness.  Hence it is the world number, and especially the “city” number.””

Five.  Grace

“Five is four plus one. We have had hitherto the three persons of the Godhead, and their manifestation in creation.  Now we have a further revelation of a People called out from mankind, redeemed and saved, to walk with God from earth to heaven.  Hence, Redemption follows creation.  Inasmuch as in consequence of the fall of man creation came under the curse and was ‘made subject to vanity”, therefore man and creation must be redeemed. Thus, we have 1 Father, 2 Son, 3 Spirit, 4 Creation, and 5 Redemption. These are the five great mysteries, and five is therefore the number of Grace.

Six. Man, imperfection, labor, secular completeness.

“Six is either 4 plus 2, i.e. man’s world (4) with man’s enmity to God (2) brought in: or it is 5 plus 1, the grace of God made of none effect by man’s addition to it, or perversion, or corruption of it; or it is 7 minis 1, i.e. man’s coming short of spiritual perfection. In any case, therefore, it has to do with man; it is the number of imperfection; the human number; the number of MAN as destitute of God, without God, without Christ.”.  “…man was created on the sixth day, and thus he has the number six impressed upon him.  Moreover, six days were appointed to him for his labor; while one day is associated in sovereignty with the Lord God, as His rest.”  “Six, therefore, is the number of labor also, of man’s labor as apart and distinct from God’s rest….and therefore the number is significant of secular completeness.”  “Six is the number stamped on all that is connected with human labor.”

Seven. Spirit perfection

The great number of Spiritual perfection. The book of Revelation is replete with the number seven.

Eight.  New beginning. And Thirteen Rebellion.

In Hebrew, it means, “to make fat”, or “to cover with fat”, “to super abound”, “one who abounds in strength”, “super-abundant in fertility”., “oil”.  If seven is spiritual perfection then eight is the beginning of a new series.

The Sabbath is the seventh day, then eight overlays the first day, the first day of the week, the day that Jesus arose from the dead, thus eight is a new beginning.

Eight by itself has to do with Resurrection and Regeneration, and the beginning of a new era or order. It is the Dominical number.   Eight is the number of Jesus: 888.  It is the Gematria of His name.

Eight is also bound up with the number 13, Rebellion.

Generally, when rebellion occurs, for the rebelling party, 13 comes into play, while at the same time for the other party, 8, a new beginning is at hand.  There are always 2 parties involved (2 for division) the rebelee, and the person, place, or thing being rebelled against.  To sight just one of many examples from Bullinger’s book; the Gematria of the first mention of the Devil “The Serpent was more subtle than all the beasts of the field.” Is 1521 which is 13x13x9.  With rebellion comes judgment.  Without fail, every person, or people mentioned in the Scriptures that rebelled against God, the Gematria of the name or event reduces to the number 13.

Nine. Is the number of Finality or Judgement.

Quoting Bullinger, “The number nine is a most remarkable number in many respects. It is held in great reverence by all who study the occult sciences, and in mathematical science, it possesses properties and powers which are found in no other number.  It is the last of the digits, and thus marks the end; and is significant of the conclusion of a matter.” 

Ten.  The perfection of Divine order.

Ten is the number for Government. It is also tied to the antichrist. I.e. ten kingdoms, ten horns, ten toes, etc.

Eleven.  Chaos and Confusion

Bullinger; “It is the number which marks, disorder, disorganization, imperfection, and disintegration”.

Twelve. Rule or Governmental perfection.

Thirteen.  Rebellion, Rebellion, Rebellion.

Seeking truth from numbers.

Each of us wonder at some time in our life; “who am I, and why was I born?” “What is my purpose?”  We wonder, is there a way of knowing the answer to those questions? Of course, there is, and those answers lie in the Scriptures.  Salvation notwithstanding, we all are the progeny of Adam, born unto salvation, to Glorify God and enjoy Him forever.  

Ok, I get it.  However, life can be long and complicated at best and, we still wonder.   Therefore, man tends to seek out other forms of information relative to what he perceives as his “purpose”.  In his/her seeking, they stumble onto Numerology and or Astrology.  All Fortune Telling of any kind other than Scripture is prohibited!   Numerology is one of the avenues that leads us away from God; not to Him.  Numerology leads to opening oneself up to the demonic world of false promises and desires.  It is Satan’s fruit, “to make one wise.”  It is the lie that Eve gave into, that led to sin entering the world!  A lie producing a result so grievous that God Almighty cried out; “What have you done?”  So why then, Gematria and spiritual numbers?

We need to know about spiritual numbers for two reasons: one, because they validate the word of God, and two, because we are told in Revelation 13; “for him who has understanding, to calculate the number of the beast, …” Why? So, we can identify the antichrist for who and what he is.  Additionally, it is he that will cause all to receive a mark on their hand or forehead, without which they can neither buy or sell.  Pretty important, wouldn’t you say?

 We cannot calculate the number of the antichrist unless there is a God-given number system by which to do so.  And there is! Not one, but two systems.  Both Hebrew and Greek have numerical numbers assigned to the letters in their respective alphabets which form the foundation for Gematria.   The science of Gematria is a method of calculating the numerical value of any jot or tittle, letter, word, or passage up to and including all of Scripture. Isn’t that fortunate?  We have and need Hebrew Gematria for the Old Testament, and Greek Gematria for the New Testament.  

Each person who has ever been born or will be born was born on a specific date.  The date is called the “Birthday.”  The date is determined by the calendar, or more accurately tied to the calendar that is the solar Zodiac.  The Zodiac, being created and established by the hand of God at the beginning of creation, revolves around a circle of the heavens of 360 degrees preordained to repeat itself every 12 months, or 365.25 days annually, and is for “signs and season.”  The Zodiac and its symbols is the story of salvation for all the inhabitants on the earth from the creation to now.  However, there are only nine digits of numbers.  1,2, 3, 4,5,6,7,8. 9. When combined they are useful for calculations as in the case of the Zodiac which has twelve symbols twelve being made up of the numbers one and two.  Therefore, to calculate a birthdate, you take the number of the month, add to it the number(s) of the day, add to those the numbers comprising the year.  For Example, My birth date is September 28, 1943.  September is the 9th month, therefore the month number is “9”.  The day number(s) are 2 and 8. And the year numbers are 1, 9, 4, 3.  Add them all together and reduce them to a single digit.  9+2+8+1+9+4+3 = 36.  3+6 = 9.  My birthdate number is 9. Both the two-digit number of the total (36) and the single-digit number have meaning.  Additionally, the number 36 is 4 x 9. So, for me, I have been stamped repeatedly with the number nine.

Both the birthdate number and the number of the Zodiac symbol under which you were born have meaning, neither of which is predictive.  However, they are informative.  That is to say, certain things tend to happen on certain dates. For example:  since my number is 9, which means judgment, I have found that on a “nine” day, a final outcome is determined for something that is going on in my life. For example, an answer to prayer or a goal that has been reached. Some type of finality to something, closure occurs.  Once you understand what your number is you will begin to recognize patterns of that number that occur over and over. It may happen daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly, etc.  Take for example the date of this writing:  July 7, 2023.  7+7+7.  The seventh month, the seventh day, in a seven-year (2+23).  Three sevens.  Seven is the number of Spiritual perfection.  Three sevens add up to twenty-one which add to 3 (2+1).  Three being the number of the Trinity. So, we could say something like this: I learned something today, that is of God that has spiritual significance that witnessed to me.  2 being the number of division and witness.  

After a while, you will begin to see the same numbers with their spiritual significance showing up throughout history. Understanding spiritual numbers is a way to see God’s fingerprints on everything in your life when we can break it down to numbers. It really is fascinating.  We should never make the phenomenon self-fulfilling but allow it to happen in its own God-appointed way.  The Bible says: “There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven.” Ecc 3:1

We find numbers in everything, and after a while, you begin to see patterns, however, it should be noted that interpreting the meaning of the numbers may be very difficult at times because some are positive and others are negative, still, others are both.  I have found that by observing historical events, those which have a fixed beginning date, one can see the pattern of God’s numerical stamp on all of human history.   The number(s) being reflected in the event.

Not only is this definitive proof of the Creator, but it is also a realization that everything has an end from the beginning.  That being so, to which God declares that He knows the end from the beginning, should we not trust Him for everything in our life?  After all, He has already seen your life in its entirety before “the foundations of the world” were laid.  There is nothing anyone can think, do, or say that God does not already know. 

It is this knowledge that compelled me to seek the dates relative to the beginning of the Great Tribulation, believing that the answers are provided in the Scriptures, and indeed they are.

So, start your journey.  You’ll be surprised and amazed at how often your birthdate number will have relevance to your life at any given moment, notwithstanding all the other numbers.
